Australian Bookseller & Publisher : ウィキペディア英語版
Bookseller and Publisher (Australian magazine)

''Books+Publishing'' magazine (formerly ''Bookseller+Publisher'' and ''Australian Bookseller & Publisher'') is the journal of the Australian book industry and is one of Australia's oldest surviving magazines. The magazine contains book news, author interviews, category round-ups and features on forthcoming books, and pre-publication reviews of Australian and New Zealand books.
==History==
''Books+Publishing'' magazine was founded in 1921 by Daniel Wrixon Thorpe as the ''Australian Stationery and Fancy Goods Journal'', at a time when there were few Australian retailers solely focused on the sale of books. The magazine has been continuously published ever since, changing its name to ''Ideas'' in the 1937. The name then change to ''Australian Bookseller & Publisher'' in 1971 when the D W Thorpe company was taken over by Thorpe's daughter, Joyce Nicholson. In 1971 an offshoot of the magazine, the ''Weekly Book Newsletter'', began publishing weekly book industry news and became colloquially known as the ''Blue News'', because of the blue paper it was printed on.〔Nicholson, Joyce & Thorpe, Daniel Wrixon (2000). (''A Life of Books: The Story of D.W. Thorpe Pty. Ltd., 1921-1987'' ), Courtyard Press, Melbourne. ISBN 0-646-39611-0.〕〔Munro, Craig & Sheahan-Bright, Robyn (2006). (''Paper Empires: A History of the Book in Australia 1946-2005'' ), University of Queensland Press, Brisbane. ISBN 0-7022-3573-3.〕
In 1992 the D W Thorpe company was sold to Reed Reference Publishing, then sold to R.R. Bowker in 2001, and the company became Thorpe-Bowker in 2003. Another offshoot publication called ''Media Extra'' began in 2004, which lists all mentions of books in Australian newspapers, television and radio shows. The word 'Australian' was dropped from the magazine's title at the start of 2006, partly in acknowledgement of Australia's growing role as a publishing and bookselling hub for the entire Asia-Pacific region. In 2006 the ''Weekly Book Newsletter'', became an online publication that is emailed to subscribers and available on the ''Bookseller+Publisher'' website. The magazine's ''Fancy Goods'' blog began in 2010, with reviews and interviews on newly released books.
